KeyPlan²

Location plan and block plan, drawn to scale

Plan² draws a location plan and a block plan (site plan) to scale, with scale bar, north point, key and distances to the boundaries. In the UK, these are the plans a planning application asks for, and many councils want an Ordnance Survey based location plan. Elsewhere, check with your local authority which plans it asks for. Have them checked or signed by your architect or surveyor where required.

The IGN map and the cadastral parcel import are for France only for now. Elsewhere the map is OpenStreetMap, and you draw the plot yourself.

Your plan stays with you.

Plan² has no accounts and no plan server. Everything you draw lives in your browser tab, and nowhere else.

The one optional exception: the Site mode map contacts IGN or OpenStreetMap to show its images, never without your consent, and without sending your plan.

To keep a plan, export it as a file: open it again whenever you like, on any device. Closing the tab without exporting erases the plan, and the editor warns you first.

Frequently asked questions

Is Plan² really free?

Yes, entirely: no paid tier, no subscription, no ads. The project runs on optional donations.

Do I need an account?

No. Open the editor and start drawing.

Where are my plans saved?

In your browser, for the session. Export them as JSON to keep them and open them again later, as a PNG image or a PDF (A4 to A0, at scale) to show or print them, or share them as a link: the whole plan fits in the link, and is stored on no server.

Can I use it for a planning application?

Plan² draws the location plan and the block plan (site plan) to scale, with north point, key and distances to the boundaries, and the dimensioned floor plan. Heights, sections and elevations are coming soon. In the UK, your council may ask for an Ordnance Survey based location plan; elsewhere, check what your local authority asks for. It does not replace an architect or surveyor where one is required.

Can I show a map and import my parcel?

In Site mode you can open a map under the plan, only if you agree to it: IGN aerial photo and cadastre in France, OpenStreetMap elsewhere. In France, tap your parcel to import its boundary and area. Parcel import is France only for now.

Can I split a plot into lots?

Yes. You cut the plot with lines: each lot has a name, an area, a colour and its distances to the house, and a site plan can be exported for each lot.

Does it draw electrics and plumbing?

Yes, in the Electrical and Water modes: circuits, ratings and cable sections, cold, hot and drain pipes. The NF C 15-100 checks are indicative; they do not replace an electrician or a plumber.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes. The editor adapts to small screens: placing with a viewfinder, long press, pinch to zoom, a strip of recent tools and a quick toolbox. It can also be installed as an app from the browser.

Will there be a 3D view?

Yes, it is planned: a 3D view generated from your plan, with a walk-through at eye level. It is not available today and no date is announced. Meanwhile the 2D plan is complete and accurate.

I used Kozikaza. What now?

Kozikaza closed in April 2025, and its plans were moved to Kazaplan, run by Leroy Merlin. Plan² cannot read those files, but redrawing a house usually takes a few minutes.
