The short version
The Plan² editor collects nothing you draw, sends it nowhere and stores it nowhere outside your browser. This website counts its visits, without cookies, as described below.
There are no accounts, no plan server and no payments in the app. One optional feature contacts an outside server: the Site mode’s map, described below.
What stays in your browser
The plan you draw stays in the open tab and disappears when you close it. Your preferences are kept in your browser’s local storage for your next visit: language, appearance, unit, snapping, dimensions, the finger placement mode, your export choices, the recent tools and the position of the quick tools. A small record for the support window is kept with them: the time of your first visit, the last time the window appeared by itself and the last time you clicked the coffee link, so it is not offered too often. None of it is transmitted anywhere.
Your files
When you import a plan, the file is read in your browser without being uploaded. When you export a plan or an image, the resulting file is yours; if you place it in a cloud service, that service’s privacy policy applies to it, not this one.
Site map (optional)
The Site mode can show a map under the plan. It never loads by itself: the Site mode asks a question first and loads it only if you accept, before the first request; otherwise the site stays on the grid. It is the only feature of the editor that contacts a server outside this website.
In France, the aerial photograph, the cadastre, the address search and the parcel lookup come from the IGN’s Géoplateforme (data.geopf.fr and apicarto.ign.fr), a free public service. The “Plan”, “Plan²” and “Dark” backgrounds are vector maps: their tiles, fonts and icons come from the same Géoplateforme (data.geopf.fr) in France and from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org), a free service built on OpenStreetMap data, elsewhere. If OpenFreeMap does not answer, the “Plan” background switches by itself to the OpenStreetMap tiles (tile.openstreetmap.org). The search for a place outside France comes from Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org), a service of the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
These services receive what any website receives: your IP address and your browser, along with the map tiles requested, which is to say the area you are looking at. They also receive the address or place you search for, and the point you tap to choose a parcel or a building. Your plan, its walls, names and dimensions are never sent. Plan² sends none of these exchanges to its own servers and keeps nothing of them; the privacy policy of the IGN, of OpenFreeMap or of the OpenStreetMap Foundation applies to what they receive.
If you tick “Don’t ask again”, that choice is kept in your browser’s local storage, for each of these services; otherwise the question comes back on each visit. A plan saved to a file keeps the position of the map (latitude, longitude, zoom and alignment) and the address and parcel reference of each site, never the images; a share link contains none of the map, the addresses or the parcel references. The map images appear in no export, unless you tick “Map background” in the site plan’s export: the page then asks the same services for those tiles again, to draw them under the plan, with their source.
This website
This site sets no cookies. Whether you let the measurement below count your visits is kept in your own browser and never sent anywhere; the language you choose is part of the page address, which that measurement records. The hosting provider may keep standard server logs, which are outside our control and are not used to identify anyone.
Audience measurement
To know how many people visit and which pages they read, this site uses Umami, an open-source audience measurement tool, installed on a server run by the publisher and hosted by Scaleway in Paris. It sets no cookie and does not follow you onto other sites. Nothing it records is shared with or sold to anyone. Each page view records:
- The page you opened, its title, and the site that linked to it, if there was one.
- Your browser, operating system, type of device, screen size, and the language your browser is set to.
- An approximate location (country, region and city), worked out from your IP address. The address itself is not stored, and the server keeps no access log.
- An identifier computed from your IP address and your browser, which counts your visits as the same visitor until the end of the calendar month and changes at the start of the next.
- A few clicks, and where on the page they happened: opening the editor, buying a coffee, opening the support window, exporting an image, opening a plan’s sharing, copying its link or sharing it. Never the content of your plans: a share link keeps the plan after the “#” of the address, a part the browser sends to no server.
- When the editor opens and when an export or a save ends: the kind of screen (phone, tablet or computer), the pointer (finger or mouse), the language, whether the editor was opened from a share link, the kind and number of files produced, the settings chosen (networks, paper, scale) and whether it failed; also when the support window appears and how it is closed. Nothing you write: no project name, no address, no file name.
- As you use the editor, a few gestures with no content at all: the first object placed in a plan (its library category, the working mode and the kind of screen), a change of working mode, the library categories used, the opening of a plan from a file or a link, the answer (accepted or declined) to the map question and the map service used (IGN or OpenStreetMap), the background shown (photo, plan, cadastre, Plan² or dark, once per background and per visit), the import of a parcel or a building, the house taken from a building of the map, the addition of a terrain (drawn, cadastre parcel, address or step-by-step guide) and its division into lots (two, three to five, or six or more). Predefined values only: never an address, a parcel reference, coordinates, a room name or any plan content.
Refusing the measurement
To stop being measured, use the button below. The choice is kept in this browser, which then sends nothing more to the measurement server and, from the next page on, does not even load the measurement script. Clearing this site’s data in your browser clears the choice with it, and the measurement starts again.
Your visits are counted.
The measurement rests on the publisher’s legitimate interest in knowing whether the site is read (GDPR, Article 6(1)(f)). The statistics are kept with no set time limit. Your IP address is not among them.
Children
Plan² is not directed at children and, since it collects nothing that anyone draws, it collects nothing from them either.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and erase your personal data, and to object to its use. The editor sends us none of it, so there is nothing for us to hand over, correct or delete. The website’s statistics hold neither your name nor your IP address; your visits of the current month could only be found from your IP address and your exact browser together, so write to us with both if you want them looked up or deleted. For any question, write to plan2@foohx.com.
You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
